contd. -2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG6.7.21. It took much longer to heat up than the water in the engine did when the thermostat was fitted. We certainly could not recommend this alteration on cars. If we are going to make a change we do want to be certain that we are going to make a definite improvement. We can assure Springfield that we have gone very care-fully into all the possibilities of overcoming their trouble with the 1" pipe through the induction pipe - we have tried it with all sorts of temperatures and the pipe in all positions possible before we abandoned it. We have hesitated in condemning this scheme until we had tested 4.EX Car, but now, after having tested this, we are confident that we can give Springfield something much more effective which can be applied to existing cars.
