For the attention of Mr. Swindall Dear Sir, We duly received your letter of the 28th ultimo, and yours of the 11th instant. We can make up a number of such couplings for your trials but this will involve new moulds, the cost of which would be about £30. We shall be glad to know if you wish us to proceed accordingly. An alternative would be to use the couplings originally suggested to you in our 3870S1, for which we have existing moulds and metal parts. As this is purely for a test, perhaps you can arrange adaptor pieces to use these couplings, as this would probably be cheaper for you than paying for new moulds and metal parts. We confirm that either a coupling we suggested, or a modified one which you propose in your scheme ECD.914 would be satisfactory. Delivery of couplings from existing moulds and parts can be given in about one week or ten days, but for the new couplings to ECD.914, we should require about six weeks.
