Referring to BY/Py11/CA27.1.26. We have been testing Wakefields Castrol oil for several years with a view to using it on the cars as an alternative to Prices oil. Wakefields 'XL' oil is a compound oil similar to Prices.

We carried out a comparative test on the 10,000 miles test car in France with Prices, Wakefields and Duckhams oil. The test shewed that Wakefields gave equal results to Prices oil. Since then we have run over 90,000 miles in France using Wakefields 'XL' oil.

One of the reasons for using this oil was that we could obtain it in France, whereas with Prices oil, we had to make our own arrangements to specially import it.

The weakness in only recommending Prices oil is that there is considerable difficulty in obtaining it. It is not always obtainable in England, and it is quite impossible to get it in France or any other country.

As Wakefields oil is widely distributed throughout the world and can be obtained in most towns in France, we propose shortly sending a standardisation sheet round so that Wakefields oil can be used as an alternative to Prices on our cars.
