Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby}20.4.38. PH.III. 25/30 AND BENTLEY WATER PUMP GLANDS. Palmetto gland packing material has been standardised for Bentley and 25/30 H.P. water pump glands and also for Ph.III pumps - it is at present being used on B.II and 25/30 H.P. pumps but is not yet in use on Ph.III ones, being instructed to commence at approximately 81st. chassis in D series. We consider that, in view of the tendency to complaints with the old packing, we should commence using Palmetto packing immediately on all production chassis. Further, whenever any car needs attention to its water pump in service, the gland should be repacked with Palmetto packing. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
