All these points were carried out in the R.R. car battery ignition, except that a trembler coil was used, which will not be necessary in all cases where an electric starter is used. It was, however, in the old days a decided advantage to have the trembler fitted, as the engine could then always be started on the switch. The fitting and sending on 7-CA a Remy ignition was well worth while as it lead to our finding the risk and cure of back-firing on this type of ignition. I think the work you are doing on this ignition to be of the utmost value to the company, providing we can get the apparatus made which we are producing. I have written a long letterto Mr. Johnson for use in connection with the Air Board in pointing out your good work in this direction. I shall be pleased if you will arrange neatly in a littlexlight convenient packing case, a set of the ignition already made by us, but with the catches holding the parts together rather freer, and better to handle than the set xxxx sent to us, and a set of Remy for comparison, with a description of the points that we have endeavoured to improve, one of the points, being suggested to us by the Magneto Dept. of the Air Board * that is, the adjustable points that could be seen and adjusted for gap and cleanliness.
