HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Copy to BY ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M14.9.28. EAC.10. FIRST CARS. X7770 X7830 X7380 Thank you for your HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG12928. We have discussed the subject matter with R.{Sir Henry Royce}, and the only definite ruling we could get was that he wished to continue to use subframes, his opinion being that experiments seem to prove that it has advantages which out-weigh its disadvantages, and that we shall have to insist on it being used on production if on "SS{S. Smith}" we are able to establish the existence of these benefits. We are sending you therefore a subframe design for 18 and 19-EX., this weekend, which will relieve you of the necessity of building a dummy chassis. 18-EX. is a saloon cabriolet for R.{Sir Henry Royce}, 19-EX. a Hooper Sedanca like 14-EX. While we shall put both these bodies in hand at once, we wish to concentrate on 18-EX., as we have a lot to do to have the body complete by the end of November.
