re Bentley Flywheel Bolts.

The reported trouble in which the flywheel became loose on the crankshaft whilst being tested at Brooklands we think is due to the bolts being heavily rivetted up.

We can imagine the bolts getting driven through the nuts.

An immediate modification is to have these nuts secured by locking tab plates, as shown on LeC.3536, which we send you herewith.

We can use the same bolts and nuts without any alteration, the introduction of the tab washer makes no difference to the end clearance of the clutch pieces.

In the near future we shall endeavour to make the flywheel nuts deeper in section, but to do this the spring driven clutch centre requires some attention to give adequate end clearance.

We will incorporate all these moves in the design for the thinner clutch disc.
