EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 44616 BY7/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 15. 8. 24. Referring to American Standardization Sheets sent to Derby under cover of BJ/Pyl3/D.27.6.24. The position in regard to these American Standardization Sheets has been clearly outlined of course by R.{Sir Henry Royce} and it is only his consent I take it which is required. The only object in the matter being submitted to Derby is to say whether in our opinion the 10,000 miles clause should be operative or not. Looking at the matter from this point of view, and dealing with the alterations referred to by numbers, our remarks are as follows:- No.31. Piston Bedding. -------------------- 10,000 Miles clause not operative. In regard to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s remarks, the scheme which I outlined for Derby to do away with hand fitting, and which has been successful, has already been supplied to America through our standard alteration routine scheme. No.32. Eccentric Adjustment of Magneto Pinion. ------------------------------------------- 10,000 Miles Clause not operative. No.33. Accelerator Fibre Pedal Pad. ---------------------------------- Consider that an endurance test for a material of this kind is necessary as it may be affected by climatic conditions seriously. No.34. Water Connection (Radiator to Pump). ------------------------------------------ 10,000 Miles clause not operative. No.35. Steel Washers below bolts in rear axle case. ------------------------------------------------- 10,000 Miles clause not operative. No.36. Con Rod Bolt. ----------------- In any case, any alteration of this description would have to do 10,000 miles. I note R has not, however, agreed to the change. Contd. | ||
