A start was made with some endurance running on the No.10 Powerplus blower which has been used for tests on the Peregrine engine. The Blower was driven from a 40/25 engine through a 2:1 step-up gear and fitted with a 1 3/4" S.U. carburetter on the intake and a regulating throttle and metering nozzle on the delivery side for adjusting the working conditions and taking performance particulars. The Blower ran for about three hours on the engine tests at various speeds up to 5000 r.p.m. It was then fitted to the test rig as described and the following runs were made. | R.P.M. | Test. The carburetter throttle was wired fully open. As first received the oil consumption was very heavy, and the check runs at 4000 r.p.m. were made to enable the small pump fitted to the Blower to be | ||
