X8430 Mr. WET. C. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY absent. BY/Cgh{W Clough}/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 28.9.26. RE STEERING AND LOW PRESSURE TYRES. With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}7/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 25.9.26. R's memo indicates the three features which it is considered will give the best results we know at the present time in conjunction with medium pressure tyres, and represents the policy which it is intended to aim for as soon as possible, but in regard to the 20 HP. chassis, it has already been agreed by Standardization Sheet that medium pressure tyres are a definite improvement and should be fitted without waiting for the special features quoted, as we have not the same troubles with steering wobbles etc. The Phantom chassis is a different proposition, and medium pressure tyres will not be used unless hydraulic shock dampers are fitted to the front axle. Lower geared steering is of course already being fitted to the Phantom chassis, and the friction device will be fitted to the steering pivots as soon as the experimental work has been completed, but in the meantime it has been agreed that Phantom chassis with the present type front axle may be fitted with medium pressure tyres in conjunction with hydraulic shock dampers on the front axle. Our present policy has been agreed to by the Administration. BY/Cgh.{W Clough} | ||
