For a fair comparison between the four cases tabulated above, the battery voltage should have been set so that the motor terminal volts were, cold standard 10.2, hot standard 10.8; cold, two series two parallel 9.6; hot, two series two parallel 10.4, the values in the tests having been approximately 9.9, 11.1, 8.7 and 10.15.

It will readily be seen that the motor with the fields connected two series, twop parallel, was at a disadvantage as compared with the standard motor, more particularly in the case of the hot condition.
