If an earth exists which will not allow the positive fuse on the Lucas junction box to remain intact when all switches are in the "off" position and the negative fuse is removed, this is due to an earth existing somewhere on one of the following negative connections :- (a) Junction box negative to ammeter. (b) Switchbox negative to ammeter. (c) Ammeter to insulated terminal on top of junction box. (d) Battery negative to insulated terminal on top of junction box. (e) Battery negative to starter motor (heavy current lead). (f) Starter motor itself. (g) Starter motor to main switch (heavy current cable). This should be traced by disconnecting these in this order, and rectified. If the earth only occurs when both fuses are replaced and either one or the other fuse will not remain intact then the earth must exist on one of the following connections :- (a) Junction box negative to steering column switch. (b) Junction box negative to push button switch. (c) Junction box negative to Klaxon or Klaxon button. and should be traced by disconnecting these in turn, and eliminated. Contd. | ||
