DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/N. Secret. Messrs.Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Attention of Mr Finney. Dear Sir, Re: Long Wheelbase Bentley - 1.B.50. The pair of front wings which have been sent to you belong to 1.B.50, and have been returned to enable you to modify them to suit the revised radiator. As we explained to you when you were in Derby, the radiators for 2.B.5. and 1.B.50 are identical, except in height, and we sent to you a scheme shewing the base of this radiator and the bonnet valance strip, to enable you to modify your dummy chassis, with a view to altering the front wings for 2.B.5. We also sent to you a drawing of the front apron and asked you to let us come and see the front wings and apron mocked up on the dummy chassis, before you finished them off. The front wings of 1.B.50 need modifying in a similar way to those of 2.B.5. since the bases of the radiator of the two cars are now identical. We admit that the modifications in the case of 1.B.50 will be more profound, in that these wings were made for the original highly sloping radiator having a high cat walk. The wings for 1.B.50 are urgently required, and we shall be glad if you will put the modification in hand without delay, and let us know when either these wings or those for 2.B.5. are available for viewing, so that we may approve of the shape, and general appearance of the wings and apron. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. Car Project Office. | ||
