X4199 To D/L. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} REPORT OF ACCIDENT TO LANCIA CAR. X4048 Driver. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Gibbs. Passenger. T. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Warwick. Gibbs had instructions to fetch an A.I.D. inspector from Shelton Lock this m-orning at 7-o'clock (16.2.27) with the above car. As it was very foggy, I delayed his departure until daylight 7-30 a.m. and accompanied him as a look out. Beyond Allenton the fog was particularly thick and while proceeding slowly on left hand side, between the centre of road and kerb, a motor-cyclist coming from the opposite direction suddenly appeared and struck us on the off side front. Lights were on both vehicles, and the cyclist explained that he had just passed a milk-float and hadnot got back to the side of road when he struck us. The car was rapidly pulled up, being stationary at the time of the impact. Damage to Lancia - broken headlamp glass and bulb. slightly bent cross steering tube. Damage to cycle - Buckled front wheel and front forks bent. The motor cyclist received a cut on the legs and was brought to our Ambulance for this to be dressed. His name is Oswald William Elms, Victoria St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Melbourne. (signed) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ T. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Warwick. | ||
