Modified Crankcase to LeC.5313.

We have carried out tests on a Phantom III lower half crankcase modified to LeC.5313 incorporating the alteration to the oil flap valves.

As this crankcase was machined for the seating of the flap-valves, which was not called for in the scheme, we roughed on the valves to obtain the same condition as a non-machined seating.

Comparative tests taken against a standard production model showed that in each case the surge of oil to the front of the lower half when braking was dealt with effectively by the flaps and the slight leaks through the modified valves made no appreciable difference.
