Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} FRONT ANCHORAGE OF REAR SPRINGS With reference to your Blue Print F.4932 which you send, this should be ready for F Series if it can be tested in time. I should recommend that the round bosses on the base be cancelled, and extra thickness allowed, so that this face can be turned at the same time as the back is faced. The process would be done on a Potter or similar machine by chucking the piece by the pin in its rough state and truing up the front and back of the flange and part or whole of the cone, part I should recommend, then it will be found with special jaws notched to fit over the square flange, and on to the cone, the piece can be securely held while the pin is turned, bored, drilled and papped, and therefore finished ready for the drilling machine. Kindly communicate this suggestion to Mr Whitehead for his consideration. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Handwritten text on left margin: X579 | ||
