AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}/FM. 1/SW. 24.9.57. Turlon Rugs Introduction Over a period of 12 months, 53 mohair rugs have been supplied (as an optional extra) to customers for the rear compartments of their cars, and it is thought that if the cost could be reduced this number would probably be greater. General The appearance and comfort of the rear compartment of the car is greatly improved by the addition of a deep pile carpet and it is proposed that Turlon rugs as manufactured by Ernest Turner (London) Ltd. should be offered as an optional extra. A rug of this type was fitted to B.116 AN on the 15.5.56., since then the car has covered 10,940 miles. There are no signs of wear and the carpet looks as good now as when it was fitted. When the rug was originally fitted it was found to creep forward and block the rear seat heater duct, to prevent this the carpet is now held in position by 3 veltex fasteners. The Turlon rug is made from a continuous filament nylon yarn which gives the same strength warp and weft. The material is cut 1½" bigger all round than the finished size, this is turned underneath and used for binding. The rug is shown fitted to B.116 AN on the attached photographs. Costs The cost of the "Snuglamb" rug which is offered at present is £7 - 10 - 0 which amounts to approximately £13 - 12 - 0 to the customer. continued..... | ||
