X. 7600 X. 4050 PHANTOM II SPARE WHEEL CARRIERS. Thank you for By2/G24.10.29. We are surprised to find that the centre of the wheel carrier is 1" too low for the buttress tread Dunlop 33 X 6¾ tyre, as from consideration of the geometry this means that the wheel is from 2½" to 3" greater in dia. than the silent tread Dunlop of the same nominal dimensions. If this is so we ought to reconsider our coach-work clearances, when, and if, these tyres are likely to be fitted. Could you send us a drawing of the silent tyre, and also the buttress tread tyre giving the overall diameters, so that we can consider the whole question of fitting these tyres to a car.
