To. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} 2. COPY R16/IB61114. valve so that it runs round the head and down the stem, and washes out the sticky oil. This operation need only be done to the exhaust valves, as I believe they are the only ones that get wrong. After this operation has been performed, the engine will be all right for a considerable period. Will Mr Hives, Mr Platford, and Mr Haldenby confirm this. I do not think we mention it in the Instruction Book, but I think it would be worth while to do so, under the heading of "Difficulties in starting the engine", with other notes.
