S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4117 CWB1/GM/19-11-26. Re: Chassis No. 29-EE - Madame de Landa. I have been consulted in the matter of a proposed change of wheels for the above car. It is at present fitted with very old pattern wheels for beaded edge tyres, but these do not appear to be satisfactory to the owner, who wishes to change them for more modern wheels. I advised that the new wheels should be of the well base rim pattern for various reasons and at the time was under the impression that Messrs. Dunlop made a high pressure tyre to fit these rims, but now find that this is not the case. I understand that Messrs. Dunlop now only supply 2 kinds of tyres to fit these rims, i.e. 6" which they call medium pressure and 6.75 which they call balloon. Which of these two tyres do you think will prove most satisfactory on this car, and do you see any objection to the use of either of them without hydraulic shock absorbers or putting extra friction in the pivots or other alteration in the steering, having in mind that it is an old car without front wheel brakes. I shall be glad if you could let me have your reply as soon as possible, as the question of supply in now urgent. and. CWB. | ||
