BY/RD.1/B.7.8.37. Re Visit of Mr. Thacker of Messrs. Lucas - 6.8.37. Horn Relay Units. Further faulty units have come to hand and Mr. Thacker reported that they have allocated an Inspector to give additional inspection to units for R.R. Larger Contacts on Horn Relay Units. Samples yet to arrive from Messrs. Lucas'. Petrol Pump Switch. The switch with 4 contacts has passed its test at R.R. and we await Lucas's to ship a decision whether they can give us a further 5th. position. Headlamps. Mr. Child will write to Mr. Waller to ascertain whether the 18 lb. spring on the reflector stops the dithering. Doubtful if Solenoid will be strong enough for anything over 18 lbs. Dirt and flies are being found inside the new lamps. Suggested that these are driven in through the tubular support bracket from radiator side. I doubt this. Why does not the same thing occur with the present P.100 lamps ? LR.{Mr Ellor}7 Regulators. Position appears to be that with the regulator adjusted to its absolute limit we get a dropping characteristic together with the output, hot, 10 1/2 - 18 amps. Our present regulator gives us 15-18 1/2. Earlier CAV. regulators give us 11 - 14 amps. The LR.{Mr Ellor}7 may give us greater reliability, but we may expect some criticism from night drivers about flat batteries. WT.13 Horns. Development to proceed normally. New castings in hand to raise pitch of horns. Coils and Octane Adjusters. No data available for discussion. BY/RD. | ||
