SECRET To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} 1020. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}11/AP.15.4.37 WRAITH III. BEARINGS. Will you please instruct for dies to be produced in order to use die cast Hall alloy bearings for the above unit. The results we have had with die cast main bearings on Bentley are very promising and in view of the appreciable saving in cost both on the material and the labour are well worth persevering with. From a die made to suit the 4¼ Bentley (EB.2810) big end bearing bushes, the castings would also be suitable for production of Wraith big end bearing bushes EB.3219. Regarding the main bearings, from a die made to suit the casting of the Wraith rear flanged bearings EB.3176/7 the remaining main bearings can be machined from the same casting.
