RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X5005, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 7/MJ.18.11.30. ENGINE MOUNTING 18-G4. The weight of this engine is now taken on the fore and aft supports. This somewhat alters the function of the engine mounting which is now expected to take the torque only. Will you therefore please arrange that the engine is mounted so that the top and bottom rubbers are compressed an equal amount when tightened up - i.e. each rubber should be 1.00" long. The rubbers fitted to this car at present are Process 1496. Free length 1.100, andthey will therefore be compressed 1/10" each.
