PHANTOM 111 IGNITION WIRES & DISTRIBUTORS.

We fitted to this engine some time ago a set of sparking plug terminals in accordance with instructions contained in E.1/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}/HP.23.9.35.

The terminals were arranged with a spring adaptors designed by the Expl. Dept.

These wires and terminals have now been examined after test on the engine and were found to be in very good condition, the exception being that the screw into which the high tension lead is fastened to the terminal had broken off on one of the terminals revealing the fact that these screws are very weak. We suggest that these screws should be modified and made stronger.

The cables were found to be in good condition electrically but at the end of the ignition tube where the single wire emerges the corner was rather sharp and there had been a tendency for the wire to chafe. If the end of the tube was rolled back appreciably this could be avoided.

Can we now have these terminals properly detailed and instructed in the usual way if you are satisfied with the design?.

We are anxious to fit up our Expl. cars as soon as possible with the final design of terminal as there is always the danger of fire at present without a cowled terminal.

We also assume that these terminals will be instructed on production.
