-3- We found that at 750 r.p.m. full throttle and with only exhaust heat to the volute casing, we had to close the butterfly valve in the exhaust downtake pipe half way in order to avoid "building up". With hot water to the intermediate pipe jacket we found that we could leave the butterfly valve completely open without any sign of "building up". With hot water to the intermediate pipe and no heat whatever to the volute jacket, we could run at 750 r.p.m. full throttle for 6 minutes before "building up" was apparent.
