-2- Assuming that all these difficulties are overcome, we still desire to lock the knurled cap nut, and on N.Sch:4799 herewith we show a means of doing this. After the column has been assembled the special counter-sunk headed screw is fitted on the underneath side by drilling and tapping in position. We realise that it will be necessary to drill into the Perfect oil seal, but any chips of metal that enter the oil seal cannot get down into the needle bearings. It will be appreciated that in this position the oil seal is acting merely as a water excluder, and has very little if anything to do. When we come to the improved scheme using the Oilite bush this knurled cap nut disappears, and then it will be only necessary to make sure that the .10" clearance between the base of the wheel boss and the top of the column is maintained.
