Y878340 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. Mr. Brock. EFC7/T3.11.27. DYNAMO YM.35 EX CHASSIS 100-RE. The evidence of this machine would appear to be that there must have been a break of some kind in the dynamo-battery circuit. The following is the wording of my assistant's report :- "This dynamo was received in a dismantled condition. Although the machine had been somewhat cleaned up, it was clear that solder had been thrown from the armature. It was found, however, that the commutator was in a brand new condition, which suggested that solder had been thrown from the commutator connections, and that they had been resoldered and the commutator skimmed. An effort had also been made to re-bed the brushes. The field coils were obviously burnt out, although the insulation of the machine was O.K. on test. This machine was one of the early type, with a control brush angle of 120º and probably had a high output, but the evidence points to the trouble having been a break in the dynamo-battery circuit, leaving the dynamo on open circuit, rather than high output." We return the machine herewith to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EFC. | ||
