Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of Mr.West. Your Ref: Ha/Wst.2/MA. Dear Sirs, We acknowledge and thank you for your letter of the 22nd inst., and very much regret to hear that you have had trouble with the voltage control unit on the Phantom II chassis from Olympia. We cannot trace having had any notification from Messrs.Lucas to the effect that condensers may not be connected across this unit, and we have, in fact, been on the telephone to them about it this afternoon, and they are looking into the matter again for us. We would state that in general we have not found it necessary to use any suppression on the voltage control box, and in many cases not even on the dynamo, where this is of standard Lucas type, but on several of the equipments fitted to your cars condensers have been necessary. In one or two cases the control boxes were working erratically before the equipment was fitted and these instances were reported to your Cricklewood Depot. We should be interested to know what measures you take to suppress regulator box interference if a condenser from the main dynamo fuse terminal to ground is not sufficient. In the meantime we will take care that the filter units are not connected to the field circuit. Yours faithfully, For and on behalf of E.K.Cole Ltd., (Signature: Rex Cowley) CAR RADIO ENGINEER.
