| x300a (c2) G.W. Hancock, Esq., Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}14/KW.11.10.35. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has discovered that the rattle at high engine speeds can on his chassis, 35-MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}, be eliminated by removing the water thermometer, which appears to convey the tappet noise into the driving compartment. We are obtaining for him a Negretti & Zambra type thermometer, and shall be glad to hear whether the same cure works on your car. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has sent us a telegram to say that the steering is terrible. Does this apply to your car or to Sr's Trials car ? Also in accordance with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s telegram, Rose and Scholes will not be crossing until the afternoon board from Folkestone on Monday.
