X2066 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY4/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 26.9.27. HYPOID GEARS. ------------ In connection with the use of Hypoid Gears in rear axles, the representatives of the Gleason Company who came here to discuss the matter, some three months ago, stated that they found very superior results from the use of Whitmores' "Zero" oil. I enquired into the nature of the oil, as to whether it was a plain mineral, compounded, or was of a special nature in any way, and so far as I could gather the oil in question appeared to be an emulsion of a standard oil and a lead soap. I am not at all gone on the use of this special lubricant, nor am I altogether satisfied that such a lubricant should give better results than one of the more usual types of lubricant. The agents for Whitmores' "Zero" oil in this Country are Alexanders, of Birmingham. If you are interested in the matter, the Order Office will be able to get you a sample quantity of the oil in question. BY.{R.W.
