X.8250 R5/M25.7.24. To CJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S E C R E T. X8830 X8250 E.A.C.11. BODIES. Regarding the bodies for EAC.2. we are proposing that if six are needed, or four are needed, half of them shall be of the sports type which you have already, and the other half to be light touring bodies of the more usual 4-seater type, an outline of which EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} is now preparing. We propose that you have a rough model made to judge the appearance, say of cardboard, tinted. Regarding the cooling capacity of the radiator I believe it will be about 10% greater than the present 40/50 HP. but the engine will not heat so much water fornthe same power, that is, of doing the same work. There is also a slight addition in efficiency by the increased size fan. I do not this it wise to increase the radiator further, either in bulk or weight, as it would always handicap the car, and I think if we find increased cooling necessary, (with the more open undershield) we shall probably have to use a louvred bonnet. We would rather not do this however, because it is thought to permit the escape of noise, but this may be very slight, and the lesser fault, a bulky radiator being both heavy on the front end of the car, and likely to tear itself away from its fixings.
