Hancock - Head Chateauroux} E.7/HP.28.2.36. re Bentley Bumper Bar Sling. We have now seen this morning scheme LeC.5016 for the bumper bar sling on the big bore demonstration Bentley, and two further sets are being put through for immediate trial on experimental cars, one of which could be used for the 10,000 mile car being run by GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} We should like to have this sling tested by dropping one side of the bumper on to it and running the car on the road. We want to be sure that firstly, the bumper cannot in any way come back and touch the tyre. Actually we do not think this would happen, but we would like it confirmed. Secondly that sufficient rattle is set up to attract the driver's attention so that he will stop and look for the trouble. It will be appreciated that this matter is urgent, and that we propose to fit these slings on all cars equipped with stabiliser bumpers. The device has been specially arranged with a view to easy fitting. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Signature] | ||
