BY/CS. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. BY/SS.{S. Smith} X5010 BY.1/G.10.9.31. BALANCED CRANKSHAFT FOR 20/25. On the telephone yesterday afternoon Mr. Elliott gave me the following information. He is sending on to us a scheme showing what they propose for use as a balanced crankshaft for the 20/25, to be made from existing forgings. The proposal is that we should use :- a/- Larger diameter main bearings, 2 1/4" instead of 2 1/8". b/- 2" pins. c/- Apparently also the webs being widened. There is a doubt in E's mind as to whether what he has actually put down on the drawing can be obtained from existing forgings and castings. He points out that he is leaving the matter to us to do the best we can and get as near as possible to his figures, if these are not actually attainable. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} will be satisfied with us getting the job through and straightened out on the basis of what can be done from measuring up the parts at the Works. 131 | ||
