X7535P. EPC4/AD. 18th November, 1929. Messrs. Peto & Radford, 50, Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, Further to our EPC5/AD. of Nov. 1st, on the question of burnt up versus flexible bolted cell to cell connections, our present practice of the latter is reasonably free from trouble, whereas we do not at present approve of the burnt up connections on account of the much higher thermal expansion coefficient of the robust ebonite three compartment cell container as compared with that of the solid lead connections. There is also the disadvantage of increased battery weight. When however, the next occasion arises that we require another P & R R.R. Phantom battery unit in our experimental department, we will make a point of ordering this battery with burnt up cell to cell interconnections for trial. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
