to RG.{Mr Rowledge} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Tsn. X4336 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Tsn1/LG23.1.28. STUTZ 8-CYL. CRANKSHAFT. We attach a print shewing the approximate dimensions of the Stutz crankshaft. The measured torsional stiffness in all nine main bearings as 54,400 lbs.ft/radian. From this this stiffness of one crank is 5.225 X 10⁶ lbs.ins/radian. The calculated value using Carter's formula is 5.01, so that the ratio calculated stiffness / test stiffness = .960 or within 4% Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Tsn. | ||
