Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

PETROL GAUGES.

We should like to draw your attention to the latest Nivex gauge.

This is almost exactly similar to the K.S. gauge except that a Bourdon element is used in place of the U tube of fluid.

The advantage of the Bourdon unit is that no balance line is required since the gauge will easily stand the over-load due to the filler on the tank. Again, this type of gauge head small leaks in the pipe line do not cause the havoc that we get with the K.S. unit.

The Bourdon gauge is very robust and can be thrown about without being damaged.

We are testing one of these units out but should like to know whether you cannot supply us with a Bourdon unit head to go with your present installation.

We cannot see any disadvantages in this type of instrument and feel that we shall inevitably come to it owing to the disadvantages experienced with the fluid type of gauge.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
