Dear Sirs, Referring to your letter of the 14th inst. addressed to our Coventry Works, we have pleasure in enclosing copies of our drawings CDS.486 indicating the 4.50x16 wheel layout and CDS.487 showing the 4.00x16 layout. In the case of the 4.50x16, the existing track line of the 3.25x18 wheel can be maintained, but with the 4.00 rim, owing to the narrow well and in order to get correct angularity of spoking, we should prefer to increase the offset by 7/32". The estimated weights of the two wheels, excluding balance weights, are shown on the drawings, and the approximate weights of the two tyres involved are as follows - 6.50-16 Cover, tube & flap complete - 27 lbs. 14 ozs. 6.25-16 " " " " - 27 " 12 " Our present range of E.L.P. tyres was primarily brought into being to cater for demands in export territories, and we are very interested in the application of this type of tyre to your chassis and would appreciate an opportunity of considering its suitability in its present form, in view of the very high performance figures obtained on the 3½ litre model. If you would be good enough to let us have some idea of the work which this tyre will be called upon to perform and such information as power to be transmitted through it, we should then be able to give the matter our further consideration.
