RECEIVED JUN 20 1927 Ba. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} My. X4613 BY4/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 20.6.27. TOTAL ISOLATION. I attach hereto copy of Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}/Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}17/EDP.17.6.27. the object in submitting this issue to you at this stage is in order to arrive at a decision as to whether, when we revert to the semi-isolation, we also revert to the practice of connecting the instrument board to the forward end of the scuttle by means of sheet steel brackets, and then connecting the steering column to the instrument board as well. We are not making any definite suggestion on the matter. We are merely raising the issue from the broadest possible point of view so that the whole issue may have full consideration and a really reliable scheme deduced from our experiences. Possibly you may not be aware, personally, of the fact that we have had complaints from practically all the coachbuilders who have tried to apply the isolation scheme, and it has resulted in quite a number of chassis being returned to the coachbuilders by customers with very definite complaints on the matter of the movement between the scuttle and the dashboard, and the want of stability of the front of the body. The coachbuilders have re-fitted our old scheme of semi-isolation. We are therefore anxious to know whether the semi-isolation with the present steering column support, and no connection between the instrument board and the scuttle, is satisfactory, or if the scheme outlined above is to be reverted to partially or altogether.
