y5820. x5005. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.10/MJ.22.7.31. 25 HP. DIAMOND ENGINE MOUNTING. Diabolo rubber for rear engine feet. These rubbers, made to dimensions as shown for the standard rubbers in position on F.56914, should therefore have no compression, and should deflect .150" under a load of 200 lbs. The primary duty for these rubbers is to take the weight of the rear of the engine when the gearbox be removed. Therefore in order to avoid unnecessary vibration and boom, care should be taken to avoid compression of the rubbers. It is suggested that aluminium blocks made to similar dimensions should replace the rubbers whilst the Y bracket at the rear of the gear-box is drilled in the erecting bay. In order to effect this, the bottom casing for the top pad F.57077 should not be rivetted to the top casing of the bottom pad F.57072. These rivets we do not consider necessary.
