Ben F.{Mr Friese} Hopkins, Esq.,
President,
The Cleveland Graphite Bronze Co.,
CLEVELAND.

Dear Mr. Hopkins,

We have just fitted the first set of facings to one of our cars.

We attach a copy of our Tester's preliminary report, from which you will see that the results are very promising.

We are very much indebted to you for sending the material over to us so quickly. You may rest assured that we will do everything within our power to get our experiments through quickly so that your Associated Co. in Great Britain may have the benefit of our figures with a view to gaining business throughout the British Automobile Industry.

We have just completed our first successful prolonged test on a V connecting rod fitted with Hall's alloy bearing backed up by the steel shell. Our major interest in this was for aero and other high duty work where connecting rods are used. The thickness of the material was only .060 and the bearings were retained by a simple dowel; the results were exceedingly good.

It may interest you to know that Leylands are carrying out some intensive work on Aluminium Tin Alloy in connection with their Diesel engines, where, of course, white metal will not stand up to the job.
