RR. F.12. VALVE TIMING.
We give below particulars of the valve and magneto timing which should be worked to on the above type test engine :-
Inlet Side 36°
Exhaust Side 38°
TIMING DIAGRAM WITH .030" CLEARANCE.
CRANKSHAFT ANGLES.
The tappets are to be set to a clearance of .030" for timing purposes, and afterwards set to give a cold clearance of .020" for running purposes.
It should be noted that the only difference between the above timing and that instructed for F.11 is that the magnetos for the inlet side sparking plugs are to be set 36° before top dead centre, and the exhaust magnetos are to be set at 38°.
