The modified dimensions have been instructed for production.

While pistons were dismantled the cylinder bores were examined and measured. These were in excellent condition and the wear in the worst place being about .001 for a mileage of 12,204.

The misfiring previously reported at 18 to 22 M.P.H. has been proved to be due to the spark characteristic of R.R. ignition, which is inferior to the Delco ignition when using .030 sparking plug gaps when plug points become oxidised with use. The misfiring has been overcome by increasing the air gap between the distributor rotor and fixed electrodes from .005 to .024 which is the dimension used by Delco. In order to give a greater margin of immunity from misfiring with R.R. distributor it is suggested that the sparking plug gap should be .025.

Clutch.
Borg and Beck unit with Thermoid facing.
Mileage... 36,632.

Parallel link motion to operating mechanism.
Mileage... 25,925

Continues satisfactory and consistent in operation.

Gearbox.
Excellent for silence and synchromesh operation.

No sign of gears coming out of mesh.

The original 1st. motion shaft has now been replaced by the stronger type with altered helix angle of gear in conjunction with Ransome & Marles Schatz type ball bearings.
Mileage... 4,832.

Exhaust System.
Trouble has been experienced with the Corrujoints which are fitted between exhaust manifold and down pipe, these blew out after 5,000 miles running.
