SECRET. 1129a By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R.29.4.38. HIGH POWER ENGINE. Confirming our talk on the subject, we confirm that both Morris Motors and Vauxhalls have started up projects to produce new types of engines. We consider this is a serious matter as both Morris & Vauxhall's are in the 25 H.P. class. The present Morris 3 1/2-litre gives 105 h.p., i.e., it is well up to our Wraith figures. If single cylinder results are of any value we have a good start, as we did 18 months' work before beginning design. On the other hand, we know how quickly Taub can work. From every point of view, we think it would be desirable to get the drawings of this engine completed as quickly as possible. We should be glad if you would do all you can to urge the matter.
