The following is a summary of the various steel castings which have been placed on order for experimental purposes in connection with Wraith, Phantom III and Bentley III chassis. Wraith. 4 each GW.1590/1. Suspension Housings (Gabriel and Co.) Phantom III. 2 off GB.879. Spring Suspension Bracket. } W. Jessop 2 " G.83695. Sleeve. } Limited. 1 each G.56956/7. Brackets. } Co. Ltd. 2 FB.2980. Torque Arms. } The majority of these castings are being made by Messrs. Gabriel and Co. Ltd., Birmingham, who have already supplied sample castings for Wraith III front suspension housings GW.1590/1. The first of these castings were received immediately before the holidays, and after proof inspection RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/E.Crouch and myself visited Gabriels in order to discuss various points requiring attention, and arrangements were made to have the patterns altered accordingly. Apart from dimensional errors, however, a good deal of porosity has shown up during machining operations, and the general condition of castings so far received is far from satisfactory (see HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}3/VS.{J. Vickers}13.8.37.). continued. | ||
