-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}5/KW.25.1.35. Self Adjusting Tappets. The spacing springs (E.85599) used between the rockers have in several cases allowed the retaining washers to come off the dowels at high speeds. Will you please replace these springs by solid distance pieces as previously used. We have replaced the plunger springs E.85904 by the original springs E.85321, the latter being stronger and more suitable when the oil is cold. The cast-iron eccentrics on the coppered shafts have overcome the wedging trouble, but are inclined to be sluggish when the oil is cold and could be eased slightly with advantage. Valve bounce occurred between 4000 and 4250 r.p.m. with the E.85318 valve springs as fitted. Will you please replace these by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1607 valve springs. The insulated sparking plug covers as used on this unit make the inlet spark plugs more inaccessible and should be replaced by the Lodge insulators as run on No. 2 unit. Index plates require fitting to the cylinder heads. Bolt head which fastens the wiring clip to the cylinder head broken on A side. Rocker cover clamping screws very tight. If possible we should like to try out the new carburetters for this unit on the bed before they are fitted; otherwise, please fit the carbs. off No. 2 unit.
