To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7310 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M16.12.26. EAC-7 - BRAKE OPERATION. X. 7420 X. 7310 Replying to BY4/H8.12.26., we see that we have made an oversight in putting the taper pegs not at right angles to the split as we intended to do. We have corrected this on N.sch.2325 which we send herewith. With reference to the dismantling of the small countershaft we see that it would be a convenience to be able to take this down independently of the equalising gear, and on this same drg. we have shewn how we suggest it might be done. We suggest that this should be incorporated in the existing EAC-7 chassis. You are perhaps aware that the whole of the gearbox for EAC.7. is being revised, resulting in a general reduction of size, and as this will inevitably modify practically the whole of the brake operation, it will be understood that the arrangements shewn on N.schs. 2250, 2274. and 2325 do not apply to future production.
