TO DY.{F R Danby} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to - GI. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M2.10.25. INDIA FRONT AXLE PIVOT. X5420 75430 Herewith we send N. scheme 2058. shewing how the plain bearing should be arranged at the top of this pivot as well as the bottom. Slight additional machining is done to the pivot itself to remove the top shoulder, and the axle is slightly reduced in height at the top, otherwise the forgings are unaltered. There is a new pivot pin and a new top cover - (casting). Also of course the bushes are new, but in other respects the fittings are unaltered. Would you kindly put one of these in hand immediately for bumping test, and for the 10,000 miles car. We believe that we have overcome the trouble of getting the bottom bush out by making it so that the pivot can come away from the axle as soon as the pivot pin is knocked out. The bushes in the top and bottom can then be dealt with quite easily we believe. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
