To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} <300 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rea/6/KW.11.5.35. Progress of Car Experimental Work. Now that we have three SpectreCodename for Phantom IIIs completed we are getting into rather an unfortunate position with regard to work which necessitates a pit on cars. Prior to the recent shop alteration we had 5 pits available; we are now reduced to 3. It is clear that 2 out of the 3 pits will be continuously occupied during the next 6 months with SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis. The third, generally speaking, is bound to be available for preparation of long distance jobs, such as 10,000 miles cars. Apart from the current SpectreCodename for Phantom III jobs there is the preparation of SpectreCodename for Phantom III B for 10,000 miles, which will have to start almost immediately. Current work on the other cars necessitating a pit is in order of urgency as follows :- (1) Preparation of 21-G-IV for 10,000 miles. (2) Vulture - axle failure rectified. (3) New flywheel ring for 26-EX. (4) 3-B-IV - straight through exhaust system, propellor shaft damper, and present standard rubber rear engine mounting. (5) Re-build Cadillac car. (6) Strip a Buick car. (7) Marles steering on the Peregrine column, fit to S-23-AZ. (8) Overhauling of 19-G-IV unit and fitting of conventional front springs. (9) Changing the flywheel on Lappin's car. We recommend that we should get the Repair Dept. to tackle 19-G-IV and 26-EX, as they are both standard jobs and would relieve us of work which they could do. Can we get another pit working in the shop to help us with these other jobs ? | ||
