Dear Sir,

Some time ago I took out a complete patent for improvement on the needles for S.U.Carburetters as particularly applied to Bentley Cars. I did this for the improvement of my own consumption and performance on my 4½ Litre Bentley.

Mr. W.O.Bentley tried these in a 6½ Litre and also found a great improvement. The tests on a 4½ Litre shewed that 19½ miles to the gallon could be obtained on a raw chassis instead of 14-15 without the performance being in any way affected.

This was also my own experience on runs between Birmingham and London and Scotland. Discussion took place between Mr. W.O.Bentley but the matter was not proceeded with, owing, I believe to the financial troubles developing with that Company.

I have during the last few days carried out further tests with my special needle after using the ordinary plain needle for several weeks, and was amazed at the improved results and additional flexibility in the engine.

It has been in my mind ever since the Bentley Co., was taken over by your goodselves to write you in this connection but I felt that you would not wish to be bothered with these matters for a period. I should be very pleased to discuss this matter with you, or anyone authorized, at a time mutually convenient.

The improvement in the needle referred to consists of serrating the plain needle now used in the proportion approximately of 1/16" plain to 1/32" groove intervening between the two plain sections.

I sincerely believe that these will be a real asset in your new productions.

Yours truly,
ELECTRIC HEATING & HARDWARE LTD.,

Director.
