As, in some cases, this job of filing is not assigned to one specific person it is very liable to fall into arrears. In order, therefore, that there may be a central source of information, always up-to-date and available to everybody, it has been arranged (per memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L3.2/T.15/6/37.) that this duty be taken over by myself. Owing to the necessarily wide field which will have to be covered to make this successful and efficient, and the fact that in many instances I shall have to use my own discretion as to what to file and what to discard, I should greatly appreciate it if you would notify me of those subjects which are of particular interest to you. Would you also please arrange for all periodicals, after they have been circulated round your Department, to be returned in good condition to the Library so that the various articles may be extracted and filed.
